The Beach

LISTEN TO THE BEACH THEN EXPLORE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PLAYFUL ACTIVITIES TOGETHER:

MAKING

Go for a walk around house or neighbourhood collecting sand/dirt/stones/sticks and any other natural treasure to make an imagination tray

  • Find a dish or tray and put your collected treasure in to create a beach scene Can you add water to make a rock pool or ocean?

  • Who will swim here?

  • Would any of your small toys like to swim here?

  • Do you need to bring snacks into your nest?

MINDFUL

Find a sheet or blanket and choose a comfy spot to lie down.

  • Take turns making waves with the sheet on top of each other (one lies down while the other stands).

  • Can you make ocean sounds? Whoooooooosh

  • Can you make big waves and little waves?

  • Sit down together holding one end of the sheet each and make waves while listening to the song- can you keep the rhythm of the song with the waves.

  • *You may also like to find different items around your house to make ocean sounds with - what does newspaper sound like? How about tinfoil? What else can you find that might make an ocean sound?

MOVEMENT

Let’s move around like ocean creatures!

  • Can you dive like a Dolphin?

  • Can you crawl sideways like a crab?

  • Can you slither like fish?

  • How could you move like a mermaid or an octopus?

  • In the song we sing about space - what does it look like to walk on the moon?

  • You can move inside and outside your house!

  • You can also listen to Michal’s Pirate Party song and dance like a Pirate
