Lady Baby
LISTEN TO LADY BABY THEN EXPLORE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PLAYFUL ACTIVITIES TOGETHER:
MAKING
Let’s paint Lady Baby spots!
Fill a glass or bucket with water and find a paintbrush or something to use as a brush (it could even be your finger)
Use the water to paint spots on a surface outside.
Do they stay there or do they “fly away” when the sun dries them?
Are there any shadows you can paint around to make shapes?
The ladybird has lots of names - what is your name?
Can you paint that together with water - or even just the first letter.
Now enjoy painting with water any way you like!
MINDFUL
Let's go on a lady baby treasure hunt!
Ladybirds are red with black spots - let’s see if we can find spots all around us. Is there any artwork in your home with spots?
How about on the packets of any food?
You could even explore outside and see if you can find other spots
Did you know a spot is in the shape of a circle - can you see any circles?
Try looking in the mirror - are there any spots on your face? We call them freckles (or pimples)
Now have a treasure hunt for the colour red - how many red things can you find? (You can continue this play by hunting for other colours too)
MOVEMENT
Let’s go on a bug hunt!
First, find a toilet roll to use as bug hunting magnifying glass!
Walk slowly around your garden or neighbourhood. Can you spot any bugs?
You may have to search under rocks or plants or leaves. When you find one have an extra close look with your magnifying glass.
How many legs can you see? Does it have wings? How many can you find?!
Extension for solo play:
Paint one half of a ladybird and fold over paper to make a whole
